Welcome to J.Södergren Advokatbyrå AB

The lawfirm is primarily specialised in European law, i.e. the laws and regulaltions flowing from the European union and the European Court of Human Rights common to most European countries. By European specialist is thus not meant a specialist on the various national legal orders.

The firm represents a number of individuals having pending cases before the European Court of Human Rights. In 2007 it represented five unorganized employees who were forced to pay dues to a union. The European Court of Human Rights found a violation of the right to possessions in a judgment on 13 February 2007, the Case of Evaldsson and others v. Sweden. The case was quite intensely covered by media in Sweden. It also gained attention in Canada (see the Canadian Speech Tour 2007).

The firm thus also represents clients with EC-law issues. Most EC-law issues are however dealt with within the national legal system, which occasionally may refer questions to the European Court of Justice for a so called preliminary rulings. The firm however also represents clients who whish to bring Community law matters before the Commission of the European Community, in so called infringement procedures.
